Greening Communities for a Sustainable Future

As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability and climate resilience, Sheva Nari O Shishu Kallyan Kendra (SHEVA) has been implementing tree plantation and environmental awareness initiatives across its operational areas for many years. The organization recognizes that protecting the environment is essential for ensuring sustainable development, improving public health, and building resilient communities.

Every year, SHEVA organizes a comprehensive Tree Plantation Program through its 23 branch offices in Dhaka and surrounding areas, engaging staff members, beneficiaries, local communities, educational institutions, and volunteers in environmental conservation activities.

As part of this initiative, SHEVA plants approximately 5,000 trees annually, including fruit-bearing, medicinal, and timber species. The program aims to increase green coverage, improve biodiversity, enhance environmental awareness, and contribute to climate change mitigation efforts.

SHEVA also conducts school-based tree plantation campaigns, encouraging students to become environmentally responsible citizens and active participants in protecting natural resources. Through these activities, young people gain practical knowledge about environmental conservation and the importance of maintaining a greener planet.

In addition, the organization distributes fruit and forestry saplings among community members, encouraging households to plant and nurture trees that provide environmental, nutritional, and economic benefits. These initiatives contribute to improved livelihoods while promoting sustainable environmental practices at the community level.

To further strengthen environmental awareness, SHEVA actively observes World Environment Day and other environmentally significant occasions through rallies, awareness campaigns, discussion sessions, and community engagement activities. These events help educate communities about climate change, environmental protection, waste management, and the importance of preserving natural resources for future generations.
